"There really is so much more to being healthy than just working out hard. Thank you for opening my eyes to it all. I can't wait to see what's next."
Mark DeVera - Torrance, CA
"I had the pleasure of knowing Courtney through college, and I must admit at first I was afraid to contact her for mentoring in my want to start my new approach to diet and exercise. Didn’t want the judgment I thought I might get; however, after our first phone call I was hooked. She didn’t give me this beat around the bush diet scheme; instead, she offered me something of much more substance and value. I hate dieting, and personally the diets out there I think are all scams, but with Courtney and her knowledge about food and what nature has to offer I felt like I wasn’t dieting but I was eating what nature intended me to eat and what my body naturally was craving. She gave me easy solutions for wonderful meals, snacks and tricks to drink more water through my days. I now find myself craving all things good for me like vegetables, fruits, nuts, proteins and a lot less of the ‘bad’ stuff.
Courtney really took the time to get to know me inside and out and help me to see that I didn’t have to ‘give up’ things I enjoy or that exercise had to be a chore; instead she would give me such amazing recommendations or ways to do something I never thought of to the point where I was excited to eat better and hit the gym. Courtney is easy to talk to, easy to open up to and very knowledgeable. My favorite part about her was if she wasn’t sure about information I asked her for, she would research it and give me an updated email within a day of our conversation. I went into this program with Courtney wanting to lose a little bit of weight as well as eating better, but found myself realizing I was taking away not just a few extra pounds but a different mentality towards myself, more attention to what I was putting into my body and overall to reconnect with the simple basics of eating right and exercising daily. I highly recommend this program with Courtney to anyone. She truly is a treat to work with, and even though sometimes you think you know what you’re doing out there in this food oriented society, it help to have someone show you a different path to a healthier mind, body and soul. Courtney encompasses all of that and so much more."

I received my training to practice Health Coaching at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, which is the only nutrition school integrating all the different dietary theories—combining the knowledge of traditional philosophies with modern concepts like the USDA food pyramid, the glycemic index, the Zone and raw foods. I was also fortunate enough to receive lectures from some of the leading doctors and speakers in the fields of integrative medicine, nutrition, and fitness. It was an absolute honor to learn from the likes of Dr Andrew Weil, Dr. Mark Hyman, Geneen Roth, and Deepak Chopra, just a few of the amazing speakers we had at Integrative Nutrition.
I was born and raised in Redondo Beach, Ca where I grew to love all different kinds of sports. Soccer quickly became my passion and I dedicated much of my teenage years to playing club and High School soccer. I earned a college scholarship to play soccer at California State University, Monterey Bay where I also graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology with a Wellness Concentration.
After gaining 25 pounds my freshman year of college (yes, 25 lbs putting the freshman 15 to shame), I decided that I needed to do something about it. I never had issues with weight, especially because I was always playing soccer and working out. For some reason I thought I could eat whatever I wanted and would never gain weight and well...I was wrong. I visited a wellness center following my freshman year and talked to a couple of different people, including a nutritionist and a therapist, about what was going on. There were so many underlying reasons why I was gaining weight aside from all the unhealthy eating. I had a lot of emotional issues that were contributing to my weight gain, but my lack of sleep, and stressful workload balancing classes homework, and soccer is what really put me over the top. After meeting with the doctors’ and nutritionist, I was referred to an endocrinologist to have some tests done. She tested my blood, my hormone levels, and tested to see if I had any food allergies. I was told that I was insulin resistant, had abnormal hormone levels, and had sensitivity to dairy! I would have never known any of this if I hadn't taken the step to go to a wellness center and I am forever grateful that I did. After making some easy changes to my diet and lifestyle, I could feel a huge difference in the way I felt inside and out. I lost 15 pounds that summer and gradually lost the rest and more as time went on. Since then, I have found my new passion, which is nutrition and overall health and well-being. Today, I feel better than ever and I'm thrilled to have a career where I can help others feel the same way.
